Report misconduct
If an official, task force member or enforcement agent extorts, harasses or mistreats you, report it. You do not have to give your name.
In immediate danger? Call 112, the national emergency number.
You can report anonymously
The report form has a box marked Submit anonymously. It is the first thing on the form. Tick it, and the form stops asking for your name, phone number and email address.
- 1Open the report form.
- 2Tick the “Submit anonymously” box at the top.
- 3Describe what happened and send the report.
- 4Write down the reference number shown on the screen.
What is recorded when you tick the box
- Recorded: What you write in the report
- Recorded: The date and time the report was sent
- Not recorded: Your name
- Not recorded: Your phone number or email address
- Not recorded: Your internet address or device details
Because no contact details are kept, nobody can write back to you. Your reference number is the only way to follow up, so keep it safe. Avoid putting details in the report that would identify you, unless you want to.
What you can report
- A demand for money that comes with no official receipt
- A levy, fee or fine you cannot find on any official notice
- A request for a bribe to do a job, or to speed it up
- Threats, assault, seizure of goods or rough treatment
- An official or agent who refuses to identify themselves
- Being turned away or delayed because you would not pay extra
This covers anyone acting for the state or a local government: ministry and agency staff, revenue collectors, task forces and enforcement teams.
What helps us act on it
- What happened, in your own words
- Where it happened: town, market, road or office
- The date and the time of day
- The agency, uniform, vehicle or badge, if you noticed
- The amount demanded or taken, if any
You do not need all of these. Report what you know.
