Who is responsible
Smart Anambra is run by the Anambra State ICT Agency for the Government of Anambra State. The Agency decides how the personal information collected on this website is used. We handle it under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
This notice covers smart.anambrastate.gov.ng only. Many services are run on an agency's own website. When you follow a link to one, that agency's own privacy terms apply.

Reporting without giving your name
You can submit a grievance, send feedback or report misconduct without giving your name. When you choose this, we do not store your name, phone number or email address with the report. For feedback and misconduct reports we also do not store your internet address or browser details with the report.
What you write is still stored. If you describe yourself in the report, a reader may be able to work out who you are. We cannot send you updates on an anonymous report, so keep the reference number you are given. For a grievance you are also given a case code, shown once. It is the only way to check progress and we cannot recover it for you.
Server logs still record the internet address of every visit for security. They are kept apart from the reports.
Why we use it
We use your information to carry out the public duties of the Government of Anambra State, and where you have asked us to do something for you.
- To handle your grievance, feedback, booking or rating, and to tell you what happened to it
- To confirm it is you when you check the progress of a grievance
- To answer your questions through NORA and to improve the answers it gives
- To report on how well government offices respond, using totals that do not name anyone
- To keep the site secure and to stop misuse
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
What is stored on your device
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser keeps the following so the site works the way you set it:
- Your choice of light or dark display
- Your choice of text size
- Your choice of language for NORA
- Your conversation with NORA, until you close the browser tab
- Copies of pages and images, so the site loads faster and shows a notice when you are offline
Government staff who sign in get one cookie that keeps them signed in. Members of the public do not get it. You can clear everything stored on your device in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as it is needed to handle your matter and to meet the Government's record-keeping duties. Grievance records are kept so that decisions can be reviewed and reported on.
You can ask us to delete your information. See your rights.
